These jobs are found in Regional Bureaux (RBs), Country Offices (COs), Area/Field Offices (AOs/FOs). Job holders typically report to a Programme Policy Officer or Head of Field Office.
At this level, job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to various queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen operational problems on a daily basis. Job holders are expected to manage resources and coach and coordinate support staff.


To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (Gender, inclusion, protection and AAP) the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to CO team on implementing WFP corporate policies, strategies, and guidelines on Disability Inclusion and Nepal Country Office Disability Inclusion Initiative also considering Gender, Protection and Accountability to Affected Populations corporate policy and guidance.
  • Support CO team on implementing Disability Inclusion guidance notes developed for 2G Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and its programme areas, through developing contextualized CSP activity specific action plan working closely with SO leads/Activity Managers.
  • Support CO team in developing and implementing contextualized practical tools such as disability inclusive data collection, analysis, reporting and programme guidance aligning with corporate tools.
  • Support CO in conducting protection risk analysis and identifying mitigation measures from disability inclusion lens.
  • Support WFP CFM manager establishing accessible Community Feedback Mechanisms appropriate for WFP working areas etc.
  • Support necessary technical consultation and coordination with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities for the technical guidance to CO team through organizing various consultative meetings, interactions, etc.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and local government on disability inclusion in close coordination with programme team.
  • Liaise with programme team and support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities from DI perspectives.
  • Coordinate and communicate with field office team and local partners staff to support and guide on DI mainstreaming activities in their respective programme and operation areas.
  • Working closely with GEDSI unit, support CO in preparing range of evidence generation and knowledge products and reports on Disability Inclusion.
  • Support GEDSI unit, organizing various awareness and sensitization events such as international days such as International Day for Persons with Disabilities, International Women’s Day, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, etc.
  • Liaise with thematic working group and other humanitarian response organizations within UN and wider development partner’s forums to share experiences, exchange platforms, opportunities and build collaborative efforts to share resources to ensure better accountability of response activities.
  • Other as required.

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. Bachelor and/or advanced university degree (masters) in International Affairs, Economics, Business or Commerce, Communications, Social Sciences or other related field, is desirable.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the English and Nepali language.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) year of relevant experience in gender, disability inclusion and/or protection, accountability to affected populations, in a humanitarian and/or development projects or programme or similar.
